Did Middletown PD learn its lesson?

The Middletown Police Department recently paid 14 summonses for vehicles that were failed to be inspected.

As of Wednesday morning, at least one of two newly purchased undercover vehicles was still tagged with an expired temporary license plate.

The 2008 Chevrolet Equinox had a temp plate hanging in the front window with an expiration date of April 3. As of today, that was almost two weeks ago.

According to an anonymous source, whose identity is being withheld upon their request, at least one of the vehicles was driven with the expired plate when it was taken to get its windows tinted.

A patrolman could have ticketed a resident for such an offense (having expired temp plates). As the lot is public property, the township could have suffered further tickets from this mistake.

To read more about the Police Department’s expired plates, pick up a copy of The Courier or check back to the Web site later today.
