Fire on Locust Avenue ruins two-story home

A possible candle fire on Monday, April 21, is to blame for the destruction of the greater part of a house at 201 Locust Ave., Navesink.

Middletown Fire Dept. Public Information Officer Andy Spears said Middletown Police received a call at about 10 p.m. Monday night and responded. He also said the dwelling is now uninhabitable.

Spears said one of the homeowners might have dropped a candle, causing the fire, but the case is still under investigation.
