The Keansburg Fire Company No. 1 will host its inaugural “Smoke Condition BBQ Cook-Off” on Saturday, May 17.
The categories include: Ribs, chicken and “Chef’s Choice,” or “Anything But Dessert.” There will be a first-, second- and third-place winner in each category, as well as an Overall Champ and Reserve Champ.
There will be a $100 entry fee, which covoers all three categories and 20 x 20 areas to work. There will not be electric service provided.
Check in will begin at 7 a.m. and meat inspection is at 7:30 a.m. Judging will begin at 1 p.m. for chicken, 2 p.m. for ribs and 3 p.m. for everything but dessert.
Awards will be given at 4:30 p.m.
